Home Again

We got back home yesterday evening. We had a great trip! The bear poop was for sure one of if not the highlight of the trip. It was halarious! The way everyone acted was mostly funny not actually the item itself. Other than that we played miniture golf and Mom and Ally Jo did some mostly unproductive shopping. This weekend I'm going to try to start preparing the garden for winter. Plants need to be removed and there is lots of tilling to be done. Also, we are going to make it quite a bit bigger for next year. We are going to cut up sod and till under it. It sounds like alot of work. The problem is that we can't till until the ground is pretty dry and we've gotten 1.5 inches of rain already today and there is more coming this afternoon and tonight. We probably won't be able to till much until the middle of the week at least.

Gatlinburg

We are vacationing in Gatlinburg. We drove down yesterday and are staying in a cabbin. Today we had a picnic at the chimneys area and shopped in the outlet center. Tomorrow we plan to do some shopping on the Gatlinburg strip and visit Ober Gatlinburg. We have had fun so far! We also saw a quite large bear poop at the picnic area we took pictures!

September Update

We are going to a concert tonight. It is jason Aldean and Maranda Lambert at Apple Bees Park. There is a pretty good chanse for rain so I hope we stay dry. We have tickets at the very back of the lower section so I hope that there will be an overhang from the top section above us. Tomorrow we are going to a sho and it is suposed to rain then to. The problem is that the place we are going doesn't have a barn. We'll see how that goes. School has been going great. My grades are good I have good friends an my technology has worked very well. Mom managed to get her new computer set up and she likes it.
Ruby and Pearl have been good but they have been having flees. I don't think Mom remembered to put there treatments on them this year so that is probably why. I'll try to post about how the show and concert go this weekend.

Much needed update

I can't believe how long it has been from my last post. Anyway school is going very well. A couple nights I've had quite a bit of homework but most of the time it's not bad. Mom finaly got a new computer for the office today and is trying to set it up now. It is going to be a lot of work. We are going to Gatlenburg for fall break with Mimi and Pa. H won another fair on friday night and I'm looking forward to Kansas City. we were out until 2 o-clock that night. Other than that not alot has happen except that Mom has canned quite a bit of things from the garden. She canned some tomatos and some salsa. It is delicious! Also, Mom and Dad's aniversery is this coming weekend. I think that they might go to Indiana again this year to watch sales.

Back in School

We have been in school for a week now. I think it has gone well so far. H won 2 county fairs in 1 day and got rezerve at another in the last couple weeks. We are dun showing for about a month and a half. The garden is doing good and has produced some delicious food. My favorites are the corn, potatos, and the bread Mom makes from the zukeeny. Today we got our new device for keeping food cooled (I can't spell it's real name after many tries) moved in to the house. The door kept falling off our old one and a new door cost half as much as a new one. Tonight we are having a family picture made for our web site. We are all going to dress in our showing clothes and set up a sceen at the barn. Hopfuly it goes well.

Delayed Show Results

On Saturday in the Junior show H and I placed third over all. On sonday we got reserv devition. In the last couple days not a lot has happened except we have planned a trip to the lake. On Monday we will leave in the morning and come back Thursday evening. I can't wait!

We Show Tomorrow

I went golfing today but other than that nothing exciting happened. We show early tomorrow morning about 9. We are probably going to eat some steak tonight for dinner.

Another Show

Not a lot has happened over the last two weeks but I got my braces off and spent a lot of time with Mimi and Pa. Now I have some permanent retainers glued on to the backs of my frunt teeth and wear a removable retainer at night but it is better than braces. Tomorrow we go to Simmental Breeders sweepstakes. We will show in the junior show on Saturday and the open show on Sonday. Farm Buro is going to interview me and philm me showing on Saturday for there Back Roads Program. I will update this situation as I learn more. Also I will post about the show. The garden is growing well and has produced some food. So far we have eatten some green beans, potatos, and squash.

The Show is Over

We had the banquet tonight and I placed-
second in cattlemens quiz-
first in sails talk-
first in public speaking-
13th in showmanship-
6th in skillithan-
and first over all high point junior.
This says that I collected more points through out the week than any other junior. If I had to sum it up I'd say-
Tomorrow we'll pack up and check out of room 501 at the Holiday in in Columbus, Indiana, finish packing the trailer, and leave Bartholamue county and go home. But I'll never forget my experiences and winnings here.

All Events Over

On Tuesday showmanship went very well. I got called back for the finals but won't know how wel I placed until tomorrow. Sales Talk seemed to be good as well. I have heard that my judges were impressed. But I don't know how I did in that yet either. On Wednesday morning the skillithon seemed hard. Today H placed 6th over all in the show. Pa paw came up today and we are going golfing at a local golf course tomorrow. The banquet is tomorrow night and I will post about how I did.

Show Goes On

On Sonday I missed 11 questions on the cattlemens quiz. This score sounds pretty good from what I've heard. Today I did public speaking and I think that I did pretty good. I don't think that I did very well in judging witch was also today. Tomorrow we have showmenship ansales talk.

We Have Arrived

We left home about 2 and got here about 4-30. We checked in to the hotel and went to check out the barn. It was very hot out tonight. Now we are back at the hotel and have been for a while. Tomorrow we check in and have the cattlemens quiz.

Going to Junior Nationals

We leave tomorrow! Maybe? We're not sure whether we are leaving tomorrow or Sonday. Mom Ally Jo and I may leave tomorrow to make sure the spot Dad and I reserved yesterday doesn't get messed with. But if we can't get ready we will just leave with Dad Sonday morning. Ally Jo had a great time at softball camp and I have enjoyed my new Ipod. I will post about how things are going at the show in Columbus Indiana. I will not know how I actually did until next Friday night at the awards banquet. So I will post about how I think I did. An contest or 2 will be held each day this coming week. Pearl is staying with Mimi and Pa and Sara and Ruby will be accompanying us on the trip. I bet she'll have alot of fun. As far as cows we are taking H for me, CC for Ally Jo, and L for Ally Jo.

another good show

H won the breed at the district show. She behaved well as usual even though she had to stand in the ring for a long time. I am making good progress on my reading project as well. I bought a new Ipod tonight with my show money. The knew Nanos have speech enabled menues. It will be very nice to be able to use more of the functions and find songs easier. Ally Jo goes to softball camp tomorrow and we leave for nationals next Saturday or Sonday. The garden is growing very well and has gotten alot bigger.

Wednesday

I got started on my summer reading assignment for Honors English 1 today. I have to do well on it to make it in to Honors English next year. I have to read Fahrenheit 451 and complete a journal about it. The journal has four different parts some of them I do while reading some I do after reading. Also we take an exam over it when school starts, that makes me hope summer lasts a long time even more. So I got started and thought it was going to be realy hard. So like any good teenager knows when faced with a problem go eat lunch. After lunch I returned to work and it seemed much easier. The good news is that it has continued to be fairly easy. I have to turn it in next Friday because we will be gone the Friday after that when it is realy due. Other than that today Mom and I did a few things here around Georgetown. We don't have much planned for the rest of the week either. But we are going to our district cattle show on Saturday.

Great Show

My Heifer nicnamed H won the Woodford county fair! It was a nice surprise because she was the smallest heifer in the ring for Supreme champian. Also I spent the last two nights with Mimi and Pa. I had Pa help me get a few things I needed and helped Mimi in the yard. My golf has also improved.

First Week of Summer

Pa and I had a great time at the lake and caught 5 bass. The junior simmental get to geather went well and so did my birthday party. I got the Bose speakers that I wanted and lots of itunes money. Also it is now afficial I get my braces taken off on July the 7th. They also said that I may not have to have the extra gum between my top frunt teeth removed either. That would be a good thing not to have to worry about. We are going to our first county fair cattle show tomorrow. It will be Woodford county. It starts at 9 A.M. so we will have to get up nice and early. The good thing is that it isn't that far away. I am enjoying sleeping in and staying up a little bit later. Summer Has Begun

Yes it is true, we are out of school. Tonight I am spending the night with Mimi and Pa. Tomorrow Pa and I are going fishing. On Saturday we are having the Kentucky Junior Simmental Association get to geather at our barn. On Sonday we are having my birthday party at the house. Yesterday Wednesday June the 3 2009 I graduated the eighth grade. I also recieved some great awards such as the 110% award, and straight A's all 3 years of middle school. The garden is growing and is growing wel. Hopfuly Pa and I will catch some fish tomorrow and I can post some pictures.

Only 3 Days of School Left

We have only 3 days left in school. I will be a high schooler soon. This week almost nothing happened except I practiced golf. I can't wait to get out of school and have my birthday.

Another busy week

Now we only have 8 days of school left! This week I played in my piano recital I played well and got my trophy from the festival. Yesterday we went on a field trip at school and we are going on another tomorrow. Oh yeah that reminds me half of the remaining days of school we won't be having classes so that will make it easier. Tomorrows field trip involves going and working at the Maple Grove cemetary I think I already explained it in an previous post. That is about all except that the garden is almost completely dun now.

This Weeks Events

We only have 12 days of school left this year! I can’t believe that this year went so fast. We aren’t going to our District show tomorrow so we will have to go in June. Our Simmental Junior National is coming up soon as well. It is at the end of June. I have a piano recital on Tuesday night and Ally Jo also has a band concert that night. That is going to be a busy day! Not much has happened this past week except that I finished testing and we finally have some plants in the garden. Not many but nun the less they are plants and they are in our garden. I don’t think that we are doing anything much this weekend. I might be going golfing either one day or the either depending on the weather.

Show Results

We just got back from the show. It turned out to be a really nice day, hardly any rain. Anyway, Miley and Cotton Candy won champion again and Bunk House won reserve champion bull again. We are pretty consistent! Now we are going to go pick up Dad’s trailer and get something to eat. By the way Ruby behaved wonderfully today.

Another Week Gone

We are going to a show tomorrow in Winchester. I think it is probably going to be a nasty rainy day. Hopfuly we can have a good show anyway. For us 8th graders testing continues next week through Wednesday at school. I also have to take the honors science test on Tuesday. Hopfuly I will do well enough to get into the class. Testing was pretty easy over all so farbut the reading was realy annoying. Ruby is doing well and will be going with us tomorrow. I will post this weekend about how we did at the show.

Thursday

Busy day today! I had a test at school, worked on golf after school, and had piano. Piano went well and we finished a song. There is going to be a recital on the 19th of May. I have a big social studies test tomorrow.

Last Week

Wow it has been a long time sense my last post. The Saturday after that last one we had a great show in Morehead. Miley and Cottn Candy won the preview and the jack pot show! However Dad and I didn't spend the night that night, we just got up real early that morning and drove. Other than that not alot has gone on this past week. No progress has been made on the garden or anything like that.

Skipping School

I decided to stay home from school today. Half of the grade went on there Washington D.C. trip today and this weekend. Mom said I could stay home today because the other kids staying back from the trip are just doing busy work. Dad and I are going to Morehead for a show tonight. We are going to go and set up tonight so we don't have to get up and leave so early tomorrow. We will spend the night and then show tomorrow morning.

First Preview Show

Tomorrow is our first Preview Show. These are shows put on by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. I look at it as the first show of the season. But Kentucky Beef Exbo is realy the first. Also it is Ruby's first show. I am interested to see how she does. The first week of school back from break went pretty well. I got all a's on my report card today. Other than that not alot is going on.

Last day of Break

We go back to school tomorrow. I can't wait! I need a regular skedule. The garden fence wasn't build yesterday and it doesn't look like it is going to today either. Dad is moing at the house for the first time this year today. Our yard was getting very tall. Ruby has been a very good dog over break. She has gone alot of places with us and has behaved everywhere. She likes being around the cows to, but she isn't quite used to them yet.

Crazy Day

Today Mimi and I went to visit Moo. When we were leaving his dog Ellie got out and we had to chase her down. When we caught her we had a hard time getting her in the car. She needs to lay off on the burritos. Tomorrow I am going golfing and hopfuly building the garden fence.

Wednesday and Thursday

Yesterday, Wednesday, I went golfing and worked in the garden. I seemed to have completely lost my golf swing. I will have to work on that! Today I came over to Mimi and Pa's house while Ally Jo and Mom shoped. I am spending the night here tonight.

Tuesday

Today we baught some supplies for the garden. We got some peat moss to add to the soil, and the matterials for our rabbit fence. I guess we will work on them tomorrow. Also I may go golfing. Thursday Mom and Ally Jo are going to go shoping at the mall. Other than that I don't have any other plans.

Busy Day

What a busy day today! First Ruby got her puppy shots. Then we headed in to Lexington to get her some new food and toys. Then we took her to see Moo (our great grandfauther.) Finaly Ally Jo had softball practice this evening. Tomorrow I think we may get started on the garden. We need to build a fence first to keep the rabbits out. Then there is some plants that we can start but most will have to wait for warmer weather.

Second Day of Break

Today Mom and I went to church and Sam's Club. Other than that we just rested and got some stuff dun around the house. Tomorrow Ruby has an appointment at the vet to get another round of her puppy shots. She might be a little tired from them on Tuesday. Other than that our plans are still pretty much up in the air.

Spring Break

This is the first day of Spring break! We went to Frankfort to look at some seeds and seedlings for our garden. I think we decided to get them from a seed place in Lexington though. I don't realy know what we are going to do over break yet. We know several things we want to do but we don't know when we will do them. The weather will probably have alot to do with our plans. Ruby is doing very well, she hasn't had very many axidents in the house at all. She sleeps great at night as well. I will post about our Spring break happenings as they unfold.

Corgi!

Sure enough we got a puppy. Her name is Ruby and she is already an excellent dog. She is house training nicely and likes her crate. She is observing the cows and getting some career training while she grows. We did not get Ruby just to herd cattle though, she is also proving to be a great pet. Like all Corgis she sticks with us with out a leash. Also I got a superior in the festival. I should be able to get a trophy in the next couple of months. Spring break is next week! I am looking forward to a little brake. I just hope the weather is going to be decent.

Festival

The Festival is tomorrow! I have a rehersel for it tonight. If I havn't mentioned it yet, the Health Fair went well. We also may be getting a Corgi puppy. We are going to look at one Sonday. Dad wants a dog to help herd the cows, and Pearl would love to have a friend. I think everyone would enjoy getting one, but nothing is set in stone yet. I'm not nervous about the Festival yet but I may get that way later tonight or in the morning. I usually don't get nervous until the morning of it. Finaly, HAPPY FIRST DAY OF SPRING.

Health Fair and Festival

Both are coming up! Infact the Health Fair is tomorrow. The festival is in a couple of weeks and I have piano tonight. The practice resital is just a week from Monday. I think if I try I can be ready. I am looking forward to the Health Fair. I have always plesured in speaking publically and such (big words are fun) and I get to miss the later half of the school day. Other than this not alot has been going on lately.

Sonday

We havn't dun much this weekend, but I did get my AR. project dun. AR. is a program we have at school in which we read books and take a computerized test. Depending on how many questions we answer correctly we getpoints. A book might be worth 5 points but if you miss one question you might only get 4.5 points. Anyway, ever so oftin my language arts teacher assigns a project. We have to read a book, take the AR, test and then prepar a book talk about the book. This time we all had to read a teen problem book. I made a news cast over my book. The Flip Vitteo came in handy. The health fair is Friday, and I'm pretty sure that I'm good to go.

Wednesday

School has gone well and just normal this week. I have a very busy day tomorrow. First at school I have 2 tests, thenI have an orthodontist apointment and piano after school. The festival is getting pretty close now! Speaking of it, I recorded one of the songs I'm playing on our new Flip Vitteo, which came Yesterday. I will try to post it soon.

New pictures

Mom and I posted the new pictures yesterday. I think the one with my boots and cane is neat. I agree with Forest Gump you realy can tell alot about people by there shoes. We were going to go to church this morning but survace was cansiled. We got about an inch and a half of snow here last night. It has melted off the roads now, so hopfuly we won't miss any more school. If we do we won't have a summer at all! We ar already going to be in school until June 10th and we go back August 9th.

Winter Makes a Comeback

Winter realy came back today. It snowed on and off and the wind was fast and freezing. I don't have piano tonight and the festeval is fast aproaching. Mom is ordering us a Flip Vitteo. It is a small vitteo camera that can save an hour of vitteo, then upload it to your computer and you can edit it. The camera even downloads the software needed if you don't have it. Anyway, I should be able to post vitteos on my blog with it. I will post a proformence of my festeval pieces if I can. Over all this week has been NORMAL. It is about time!

Normal Day

It was nice to have a more normal day today. The power didn't go out, the wind didn't try to blow our house over, and we had a regular full day of school. Also, I had piano lessons earlier this evening. We are still working on my Festable pieces. We are cutting it a little close but that just keeps things interesting. I think it is on the 21 of March. At school today I was asked to present at the seventh grade health fair. It is a day of different presentations about health and safety and such. Ever sense I was in sixth grade I've presented (that will make it 3 years). I explain to each group a little bit about the machines and equipment I use and answer some questions. I have also presented several other places andI enjoy it. We went to Cracker Barrel last night for Mom's Birthday.

Wind

It is extreamily windy here today! A line of strong storms is moving through. The Conductor sold for $3000 at the sail in Mississippi. Also, I did have school last Friday bringing the grand total up to 1 and 3/4 days of school in 2 weeks. Today is early release day at school so I got out at 1-20. It is Mom's birthday today so we wil go out to eat sometime soon.

Another Cold Day

Thank goodness that it is going to warm up tomorrow. Dad and Ally Jo actually ended up leaving early this morning instead of yesterday. They got their about 6 o-clock Eastern Time. I don't know if I will have school tomorrow or not.

snow days and winter weather

We missed all of last week and have only been to school1 shortened day so far this week. The shortened day would be yesterday, we had an hour delay. It is a good thing that we got our electricity back Yesterday because it is extreamily cold here today. I think the high is 20. Dad and Ally Jo are trying to get ready to go to Jackson Mississippi today. At first, just Dad was going to leave tomorrow, but now they are both going to try to leave today. They will get to escape this snowy winter wonderland. It is suposed to be realy warm here after tomorrow though so hopfuly it will melt this weekend. By the way, they are going to Mississippi to sell Duck (aka /The Conducter) at the Dixie National sale. I will keep you updated about there trip.

got power back

Thank goodness! We finally got our power back today! It snowed several inches today so we are out of school tomorrow. I will post more them.

lost power

We have been out of power for 4 days now. We are keeping the house about 65 degrees, with propane heaters, and running a few things off our jenerator during the day. The ice should melt off most of the trees today but it will probably stay on the ground for a while. We might even get more snow early next week.

ICE

What was suposed to be a snow storm seems to have turned to ice. It snowed over night but this morning it started raining ans sleeting. So, now we have a couple inches of snow with a thick layer of ice over it. In alot of places the ice doesn't break when you walk on it. We went sleding behind the Gater (our lawn machine) earlier before it started raining. Now we are just staying inside and keeping an eye on the weather.

Saturday

I think Saturday is my favorite day of the week. I can sleep late, get things done around the house, and just do things I don't have time for during the week. Today Papaw is coming out after lunch to work on my golf. Over the summer we made a driving range in the basement. The final moddel is made of carpet but it took tuns of trial and arror to get there. The golf ball hits the back wall(a piece of carpet with memory padding covering it) and then falls down to the carpet below. At least that is what happens when it works right, which is most of the time. Ally Jo went to the doctor this morning and she has a virus that will just have to run its course. Also, I am going to try to build a base for my new saw and get it mounted today.I would also like to put some permanent pictures around the edges of my blog page.

almost Friday

Isn't it funny how the shortest weeks seem like the longest. This week we missed Monday and part of Wednesday but it has felt so long. Anyway, I had piano lessons tonight and we have learned all of Wish Upon A star. I will be playing it in late March at a piano compitition that is held here in Georgetown every spring. We still have to polish it and learn to use the peddle. This will be the first time ever that I have used the damper peddle. It is the peddle on the piano that makes the notes sound like they are ecoing. I know that word probably isn't spelled right but if you read this blog enough you will find out that I can't spell very good. Anyway, I had better study for my little social studies quiz tomorrow.

staying busy

Today I basicly worked in the basement all day. I didn't actually stay down there all day but it is the only thing that I did worth noting. I finally got moving on my project of my work bench. I got 2 of the legs attached. I also practiced golf and worked on the driving range. We are just going to stay in tonight and eat left overs, watch football, and I am going to try to finish my homework. I want to get it finished because nathaniel is probably coming over tomorrow afternoon. So, if i don't do it tonight I might have to get up before 10 o-clock in the morning to do it! This is probably my longest post yet, so I'll end it now.

four day weekend

No school tomorrow or Monday! They anounced about tomorrow just before we left school today. It was funny, everyone went nuts and they anounced it over and over. One time they even said "This is not a joke." Anyway, I promise pictures of the calves if not tonight then tomorrow. I don't have alot of homework for the weekend but a little. Pearl got her nails trimmed and a bath today. Stay warm tonight!

winter weather on the way

There is suposed to be snow and colder weather moving in tonight. We will probably have a snow day tomorrow. I am going to try to post some pictures of the calves later.

First Post

I am going to give blogging a try. I want to keep people informed about what is going on with me, my family, and my pets (including cows).
